Welcome Parents and Students,
A huge thanks for all of you that donated items &/or time to make our Harvest Fest a great success! Now we are gearing up for the annual Thanksgiving Feast but we're working on a few changes. So I will get back to you when we have more information.
Keep in mind that Thursday, November 11 is Veterans Day, so school will be closed.
Then again on Wednesday, November 24 - 26 we will be closed for Thanksgiving.
PIZZA HUT Book It Reading Program is in full swing. Every year PIZZA HUT gives free Personal Pan Pizzas to students that read 400 minutes each month. This amounts to about 15 minutes a day. Pretty good deal when you realize that all students need to be reading everyday anyway. So get reading and treat yourself to a pizza.
Have a relaxing Thanksgiving break and check back in December.
Sincerely, Ms. Bryant

Wow, October is here!
We are entering that time of year when the holidays make time fly. Ms. Bryant and Ms. Baum are getting geared up for our first field trip. We will be headed to the Golf-Links Library on Wednesday, October 13th, our half day. Departure is approx. 9:00a.m. and we will return by 11:00a.m. There will not be lunch or after-school due to our Fall break which runs through the end of that week. We will see you all Monday, Oct. 18th.
READ, READ, READ during this break. It is vitally important that your child is reading at least 15 words per minute. By the end of our 2nd quarter that will change to 25 w.p.m. So please encourage your child to read, it will have a huge impact in your child's education and self-esteem.
HARVEST FEST is coming to LPA Friday, October 29th from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. This is an annual event that promises to be a blast. There will be games and activities of all types, cake walks, face painting, and of course food and drinks. Get your tickets early and save; 5 tickets for $1.00 before Oct. 27th then tickets will be 4 for $1.00 after the 27th.
See you in November. Ms. Bryant

Welcome to 1st grade class 2010/2011, Wow, the energy is still high as a kite. Most of the children know each other, however, even the new students have adjusted quickly.
We are jumping right into testing so we have a baseline of where each child is academically. This will be a week or two and then repeated quarterly. It is so great to see the growth even by Christmas not to mention the end of the school year.
A big thank you for the classroom $$$ donations. You can't imagine how quickly money can run through my 1st grade fingers. I must admit that I'm a lot like a kid myself when I go shopping at Parent & Teacher Connection.
LA PALOMA OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for Wednesday, September 1st from 6:00 - 8:00p.m.
This is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet our class pets.
Hope to see you there!
See you next month, Ms. Bryant

Hello one and all, we have had a ton of activity at LPA. First grade had a wonderful turn-out for Grandparents day. The children showed off their sight word skills with a game called; ROLL, SAY, KEEP. I am very proud and I know the Grandparents were impressed. Also we had TIMELINES which are a required assignment in 1st grade and these are fabulous as well. Come check them out. While you are at our class, come visit the children's "pets". We are studying mealworms and learning about their life cycle. Next we will be working on book reports in preparation for 2nd grade. So keep reading and feel free to visit.
Thank you, Ms. Bryant
